Grasping the Complexity of Law

Grasping the Complexity of Law

Av Anne Kjersti Cecelia Befring, Gunnhild Storbekkrønning Solli

This book aims to provide a reflection on the works of Inger-Johanne Sand, which we believe represents a fitting tribute. Sand is regarded as one of the foremost legal internationalists in Nordic jurisprudence. She has made significant contributions to the development of perspectives on changing society, digitisation and new technologies. Her extensive knowledge provides a valuable foundation for guiding and evaluating original academic works from new perspectives. This book provides an overview of the extensive academic career and contributions of Inger-Johanne Sand. When Professor Inger-Johanne Sand turned 70 on 30 December 2022, the Department of Public and International Law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Oslo invited colleagues and friends both from home and abroad to an anniversary seminar in her honour on 25 May 2023. This seminar has been an important basis for the work on this 'Festschrift'. During the seminar, Inger-Johanne Sand commented on all lectures and connected them to the trends of legal science. This has certainly strengthened the finalised chapters. We, the editors, are most grateful for the backing and cooperation from all the participants. From the very start we have encountered enthusiasm both for the seminar and now for making this book. We thank all the contributors for their excellent chapters. We will also thank the Department of Public and International Law for generous support, in particular administrative head Øyvind Henden and senior executive officer Anette Prestesæter Endsjø for invaluable help. We are most thankful to the publisher Karnov Group Norway AS for publishing this book and for their constant support and advice.
